Episode 15: Reel Vision

I spoke with Shantel Hansen about her work with the Reel Vision Program. Reel Vision is a not for profit after school program that is dedicated to teaching kids in the Boston area about filmmaking. This program is training the future of filmmaking how to shoot and edit their own films. Reel Vision is part of the Newbury Film Series and some of the students' films can be seen right from ReelVision.org.

For more information you can contact Shantel and Reel Vision through ReelVision.org.

Episode 14: BusRadio, UPenn blogs, Podcasting for the 4th

News:

July4us - Declare Your Independence From Mainstream Media!
We're declaring our independence from Mainstream Media! We're reporting news you won't heard on "the big 3." We're playing great artists that clear channel's computer playlists have ignored. We're creating outstanding video content free from the shackles of the 30 minute timeslot!

Who are we? We're just like you! We're creative individuals who were sick of being force-fed the same focus-group distilled junk year after year.

On July Fourth, declare your own independence from Mainstream Media. Turn of your TV and turn on your computer. Plug an iPod with great music podcasts into your stereo while you barbeque. Watch an indie movie or a video podcast. Read news that's not being reported on CNN.

Just use your favorite tagging tool to search for "July4us" to find other blogs, podcasts, and shows declaring their independence, and changing the face of media.

  • Search the July4us tag on technorati
  • Search for July4us on Google

Teaching for the Future: Episode 12

This episode I talk about the emergence of mp3 players and Podcasting in education. Are these new tools really suited to teaching and learning and how are schools trying to utilize. I talk about 3 of my favorite podcasts and the use of iPods at Duke University. And I want to thank Jesse Thorn for the great intro/outro.
